Beyond Support Our Community Work

Our Why

Giving back has never been separate from what Coralville Care does. It is part of how support is delivered, how relationships are built, and how the team shows up every day.

Support does not stop when a shift ends. It extends into the community, into shared spaces, and into the moments that bring people together. That is where connection grows, and where people begin to feel part of something, not separate from it.

This approach comes from lived experience. Seeing how disconnected support can feel, and understanding how much stronger outcomes become when people feel included, known, and supported by those around them.

Coralville Care was built on that belief. When people feel connected, supported, and involved in their community, confidence grows, independence builds, and everyday life becomes more manageable.

Showing Up When It Matters

Coralville Care is led by John and Paula Allsop, two locals who are deeply connected to the community they support. Their approach is simple. When something matters, you show up.

Through years of volunteering, they have contributed to surf lifesaving, all-abilities programs, and local community initiatives. Their involvement is consistent and hands-on, not occasional or symbolic.

During the Mid North Coast floods, they were there alongside others in the community, helping clean homes, restore spaces, and support people through a difficult time. Not because it was expected, but because it was needed.

This mindset shapes how Coralville Care operates. Support is not just delivered, it is lived through action, reliability, and being present when it counts.

Creating Inclusive Experiences

Community is not built through services alone. It is built through shared experiences that bring people together in a way that feels natural and inclusive.

Taking part in events such as the Starlight Foundation Swim for Charity reflects this. Participants, staff, and families come together, not as separate groups, but as one community. For many, it is a first experience of being involved in something bigger, building confidence while feeling supported.

Moments like these are not about performance or outcomes on paper. They are about connection, participation, and creating opportunities where everyone feels they belong.

Supporting the Community That Supports Us

Being part of the community means contributing to it. Coralville Care actively supports local sporting clubs and events, helping create spaces where people can connect, grow, and feel included.

Sport brings people together in a way that builds confidence, teamwork, and belonging. Supporting these environments helps strengthen the wider community while creating opportunities for individuals to feel involved and connected.

This is not separate from the work Coralville Care does. It is an extension of it.

Inclusion in Action

Paula’s ongoing involvement with the Dippers all-abilities nippers program reflects what Coralville Care stands for.

Each season, she supports children and young people to build confidence in the water, connect with others, and feel included in an environment that can often feel overwhelming. Her consistency and commitment create a space where participants feel safe, capable, and supported.

This is what inclusion looks like in practice. Showing up consistently, creating opportunities, and helping people feel like they belong.

What This Means for Participants

Everything Coralville Care does, within support and beyond it, leads back to one outcome.

Participants feel more confident stepping into their community.

They feel more comfortable in their daily routines.
They begin to build independence in a way that feels achievable.

Support becomes more than assistance. It becomes connection, belonging, and progress that continues beyond individual shifts.
